The Donald Trump – Elon Musk thing is fracturing already
Donald Trump and Elon Musk were best buddies during the transition period, but how long can that last? Trump is an insecure narcissist who needs the spotlight and the glory. Musk is an unstable mental patient who lacks the social skills to understand how to keep a narcissist like Trump happy. Now we’re already seeing things fracturing.
Musk is winning in terms of quickly chasing away pretty much everyone else running the “DOGE” agency (including co-head Vivek Ramaswamy). But Musk isn’t getting everything he wants. After Trump signed off on an AI project with a Musk rival, Musk began publicly bashing the project and insisting it didn’t have the funding.
In the wake of Musk’s tantrum, other people in Trump’s inner circle are now bashing Musk to anyone in the media who will listen. It’s clear that the other people around Trump are trying to push Musk out already. This comes even as Musk is pushing out everyone he can. This is a sort of proxy war between Trump and Musk for now, but how long before all the middle men are fired and it’s just Trump and Musk squaring off directly for power? Trump is senile, but he’s also the one in office. It’s hard to imagine Musk winning.
