When Pfizer announced this morning that it has a viable coronavirus vaccine, it was undeniable good news. We were all expecting Donald Trump to grab the first microphone and try to take credit for it, because that’s just what he always does.

But instead Trump has been missing in action today. Instead President-elect Joe Biden promptly held a press conference and, without trying to take any credit for the vaccine, laid out the necessary next steps for getting us to the vaccine finish line as safely as possible.

An hour after Biden had finished speaking, Trump still hadn’t appeared in public. Instead Trump announced via tweet that he was firing his Secretary of Defense Mark Esper – a silly temper tantrum. Trump is trying to convince everyone that he’s somehow the real winner of the election, and he’s supposedly trying to convince everyone that he’s stable enough to remain President. Firing the Secretary of Defense via tweet doesn’t exactly suggest stability.
