Swimming with the sharks
Perhaps one sees them underneath clear ocean waters. One can also view many of them at aquariums, where they scuttle about, rainbows in motion, leaving many in awe and silent wonder. They are of course, our aquatic friends — fish. There are approximately 35,500 known fish species in the world. They are all glorious in their colors — like people.
In THIS country, we have such a vast slate of religions, nationalities, and skin colors. And all these people weave their own stories, swim to their own melodies, and dream their own dreams. Only Donald Trump wants to deny SOME of these people Citizenship. So, with the extreme court’s ruling — now what?
For make no mistake, this albatross is the GOP’s to bear. What say you, GOP? We have a mad president in the White House. Someone hell bent about casting aside citizenship for so many. But what will the Republican side of the aisle do? How will THEY vote? What will THEY say to TV pundits?
And will they listen to that perverse whisper, that odd little voice whispering: “the midterms, the midterms.” The GOP already faces numerous issues and problems heading into the Midterm Elections. Do they want to add one more?
I know not what they will do. Their psyches are as strange and incorrigibly loyal to Donald Trump as can be. But they must certainly know they’re swimming in waters infested with sharks. They must surely know that what they choose to do and how they respond to this issue can make or break them in one fell swoop.
