Straight to hell

I want to tell you a story. I want you not just to read this very true story, I’d like you to FEEL it. It’s about a field of dreams. No, not the one from the iconic film. But a field of dreams it is nonetheless. It is actually more than one field; it is fields of dreams.
They have been there for so long — a timeless amount of time, endeavoring many to make their dreams come true, by growing, by picking by inhaling the crops and plants that grow within these beautiful fields. The ones who come to see the fields of dreams and to work within them, are the dreamers themselves.
The dreamers are from many other countries, fleeing, in some cases, massive amounts of violence and coming here to America to gaze upon its lush fields and to forge their place within the American dream. It’s the way things have always been until very recently.
OXNARD CALIFORNIA: “ICE agents chase after farmworkers as they flee fields during latest raid in Ventura County.” Those words are transfixed in my mind. Yes, there was Trump’s thuggish ICE — CHASING — chasing the dreamers through the field of dreams, trying to crush them, to make them stop dreaming, to turn the field of dreams into a field of screams.
It’s an important story. It’s one of the most significant stories unfolding in our nation right now. The dreamers and the dream stealers. We will always fight for the dreamers, to keep these beautiful fields lush with happy dreamers, eyes shining, with the promises of warmth and prosperity.
That is what the protests are about. We will ALWAYS fight for the dreamers’ right to walk and to work in these beautiful fields and dream — and accomplish. And the dream stealers? They can go straight to hell.
