No, Mike Pence can’t magically do anything on January 6th. No, Louie Gohmert can’t force the courts to give Pence magic powers. Trump and his seditious allies have literally zero chance of somehow magically overturning the election. Nothing even works that way. Let’s not waste our time panicking over imaginary things.

In fact this whole thing is getting incredibly boring. Many Americans are dying in a pandemic, and many others are starving to death. We have two runoff elections on January 5th that will shape the course of Joe Biden’s Presidency. We have important things going on. Anyone who wastes their time obsessing over imaginary ways in which Trump somehow magically getting a second term – on either side of the political aisle – is being foolish.

No, there isn’t going to be a civil war. No, there isn’t going to be martial law. No, there isn’t going to be a successful coup. Can we please stop panicking over imaginary things? Feel to be outraged that they’re even trying. But you don’t panic over things that literally can’t succeed. There’s never a scenario where that kind of panic is helpful, and in this particular scenario it’s harming us by distracting us from the important things we should be focused on.
