Sometimes I wonder about America’s priorities
What do Rand Paul, Laura Loomer and Ben Shapiro have in common? I mean apart from the fact that they are MAGA psychotics, of course? They think Trump accepting a brand spanking new plane from the Qatari government isn’t a good look. Even the lunatic New York Post published an editorial that was headlined, “Qatar’s ‘Palace in the Sky’ jet is NOT a ‘free gift.’”
The thing that’s shocking to me isn’t that they find Trump’s acceptance of a Trojan Horse jet plane from a petrostate autocrat a bridge too far, but kidnapping and deporting children to Honduras, one of them with cancer, isn’t? Gutting Social Security, Medicaid and the National Parks Service is okie dokie with them, but accepting a Boeing 747-8 to ride around in is a bad look? What about destroying the American economy and causing a completely unnecessary recession? Any takers? No?
Unbelievable. These MAGA fruitcakes are so far gone in their brains they can’t even figure out what’s worth virtue signalling about. Something vital is so broken inside their teeny, tiny little heads that they choose what is frankly the smallest scandal inside the Trump “administration” as a hill to die on.
I mean, at the end of the day, who really gives a shit about Trump’s ride? We already know he’s corrupt and evil and greedy and stupid. His plane isn’t going to change that, it’s just going to advertise it. As if we need an advertisement.
As far as I’m concerned, the most surprising thing to come out of this whole imbroglio is that Trump is actually going to have a presidential lieberry, I mean library. What’s he going to stock it with? Comic books? Old issues of Playboy? Besides, doesn’t Trump keep his papers next to the toilet in his Mar-a-Lago bathroom?
Trump is a stupid, self-dealing and deceitful criminal. He is doing possibly irreparable harm to the American economy, the climate and America’s allies. In fact he’s so stupid, self-dealing and corrupt that he’s going to accept and use the plane. Yes, that’s bad. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn’t thinking clearly. But it’s far from the worst thing he’s ever done.
I can only imagine how Kilmer Abrego Garcia would feel if he chanced upon a scrap of newspaper about it. After spending two months in an El Salvadorian hell hole for doing absolutely nothing wrong, only to discover that not only do most Americans not care about that, they’re out of their minds with outrage that Trump has a new airplane. He must wonder about America’s priorities. I know I do. I know every sane person I know does.
