Senile Donald Trump is making up holidays now

Donald Trump has always been a liar and a con man. He’s lied about his wealth. He’s lied about his name. He’s lied about everything. He’s cooked his books. The man just makes things up. Now that he’s being driven insane by worsening dementia symptoms, it appears he’s making up imaginary holidays as well. No, really.

Trump just announced on social media that May 8th and November 11th are now national holidays. The two dates mark the end of the two World Wars, which almost sounds like a good idea. But then in the same breath Trump announced that nothing will close on these holidays. No one will get the day off. Nothing will actually happen.

In other words these aren’t holidays. These are just things Trump saying. It’s like when Michael Scott on The Office stood up and yelled “I declare bankruptcy” only for the accountant to have to explain that “that isn’t anything.”

Sure, Trump will sign something technically making these two dates national holidays, and that’s all well and good. Why shouldn’t we commemorate the end of World War I and World War II? But these aren’t going to be real holidays. This is simply a matter of an addled Trump insisting to his babysitters that he wants to create national holidays, and then finding a way to let him think he got what he wanted.

All you really need to know about the incoherence of all this is that after Trump announced these two new holidays, he added “we already have too many Holidays in America.” Then why is he creating more holidays? The guy doesn’t even know what he’s doing from one sentence to the next.
