Just how poorly did this week’s Oval Office showdown go for Donald Trump? He didn’t even appear to know where he was at until JD Vance picked a fight with Ukrainian President Zelensky. Only then did Trump begin angrily yelling, in semi-incoherent fashion. Since that time, too many world leaders to count have publicly voiced emphatic support for Zelensky, leaving Trump looking foolish and irrelevant on the world stage.

But now Trump has shared a social media post which claims that he “played both sides like a master chess player.” Yeah sure, that’s it. Where we do we even start with this? For one thing, who brags about themselves like this? Also, if you’re in the midst of employing some kind of complex chess-like strategy, the last thing you would want to do is announce that you’re in the midst of employing some kind of complex chess-like strategy.

It’s difficult to tell if Trump posted this himself because he’s that defensive about how it’s all slipping away from him, or if his babysitters made this post on his behalf because they’re trying to make him feel better about himself. But with Elon Musk now running domestic matters and JD Vance now running foreign policy, what exactly is Trump in charge of? Nothing, because he’s too senile to have a clue.
