Now that Donald Trump has lost the election, he’s unmistakably facing a future that involves prison and bankruptcy. It’s really just a matter of who gets to him first. For instance, New York State has had a widely documented grand jury in the process of indicting Trump on financial crimes for some time. Then there’s whatever the post-Trump DOJ does to him. But it appears Trump will also face trouble outside the United States.

The Scotsman is reporting that the Scottish Parliament is now openly discussing an investigation into how Donald Trump’s properties in Scotland were funded. Notably, Parliament is citing New York’s ongoing investigation into Trump’s financial fraud as a basis for its own would-be investigation.

We imagine that if Scotland were to go after Donald Trump for money laundering and/or financial fraud, it would have to wait in line behind United States prosecutors before it could get its hands on him. But Scotland could seize his properties within its borders. When we say that Trump is now facing a life of bankruptcy and prison, this is what we’re talking about. We’ll see plenty more of these kinds of stories in the coming days and months.
