Score one for the Democratic Party

The Democratic Party has spent 2025 facing an almost impossible challenge: the public has tasked them with defending the country against Donald Trump’s unhinged extremism, and yet that same public has failed to give the Democrats control over any branch of government.

As I’ve written about before, the Democrats have been fighting back in multiple ways, though most of them not quite as flashy as the internet would like to see. We’ve seen the Democrats hold the Senate floor for 24 hours. We’ve seen the Democrats hold rallies against Trump. We’ve even seen the Democrats hold town halls in Republican districts where the Republican Congressmember has gone into hiding.

But the most concrete way for the Democrats to fight back is in court. We’ve seen the Democratic Party and its leaders file dozens if not hundreds of court cases against the Trump regime – and the Democrats have won nearly all of those cases. But it’s not just Trump.

The North Carolina Republican Party has been trying to steal a state Supreme Court seat by contesting an election that the Democrats won several months ago. Back in January, the Democratic Party filed a court case to get votes reinstated that the GOP had tried to throw out. Yesterday, the Democratic Party finally won that case.

Yes, sometimes it takes that long. Like I’ve said, going to court isn’t the flashiest way for the Democratic Party to fight back – but it is one of the most effective. In announcing the news yesterday, the Democratic Party simply tweeted “We won” while quoting their original January announcement. It feels good to win.
