Donald Trump’s impeachment troubles continue to get worse for him. With each passing day his approval rating drops a bit, and pro-impeachment poll numbers continue to rise. Unless he and his allies can come up with a plan to turn these numbers around, Trump is simply toast. But don’t worry, because Rudy Giuliani and Lindsey Graham have a secret plan.

Actually it’s not much of a secret. We saw this coming a mile away. Rudy Giuliani has been subpoenaed by the House impeachment inquiry over his role in Donald Trump’s Ukraine scandal. Up to now, Rudy hasn’t publicly said whether he would cooperate, and frankly we weren’t sure whether it would be a good idea to have him testify. On the one hand, Rudy might melt down and confess to even more of Trump’s crimes. On the other hand, Rudy would try to use his testimony to promote his deranged phony conspiracy theories. So the whole thing would probably be a wash.

The thing is, we pretty much knew what Rudy Giuliani would do in response. He was going to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee instead. Why? It’s run by his fellow crackpot Trump apologist, Lindsey Graham. Sure enough, that’s what’s going to happen. The thing is, this format won’t really be much better for Rudy. Sure, Lindsey will use his time to let Rudy spread insane lies. But the Senate Democrats on the committee will use their time to beat the crap out of Rudy, and even some of the Senate Republicans on the committee may be inclined to use their time to try to scapegoat Rudy in the name of insulating Trump.

So if this is the best that Rudy Giuliani and Lindsey Graham have been able to come up with, then Donald Trump has a real problem here. With friends like these two mentally unstable idiots, who needs enemies? If anything, Lindsey and Rudy may end up unwittingly doing the House impeachment inquiry’s job for them. Then again, this idea is so stupid, we wonder if the other Senate Republicans on the committee might end up convincing Graham to pull the plug before it happens.
