The Republicans have jumped straight from the frying pan into the fire. That is because their biggest fear — their worst threat to winning the midterms — has vaporized. And that is Donald Trump. The Republicans are reportedly infused with slowly dawning horror as it sinks in that they can’t stop him.

For months, it’s been reported that the GOP has begged Trump to be quiet. Please shut up, they have begged. Don’t sabotage us. We’re THIS close. These are not actual quotes, but they are packed into the message Republicans have given Trump.

Only the Sociopath isn’t listening. He won’t stop talking. “TRUMP WON” was posted smilingly on Trump’s toy, Truth Social. That is NOT what the American people want to hear. That’s NOT what Republicans wish to listen to either, as now they will have to spend their time talking more about Trump — the one thing they don’t want to do.

This election is coming down to a referendum, alright. It’s the referendum on freaks. The Roe decision has cast Republicans as being outside the mainstream. The fight over gun safety has furthered that image.

And now the one person in the world Republicans fervently wanted to keep quiet won’t stop talking — further casting the GOP as out of the mainstream freakish cult members who have not one iota of sanity.

And remember how this image turned out for California’s Larry Elder? Now the same thing is happening. Shut up Trump, I imagine many Republicans think silently. Shut up, shut UP. Only Trump will not shut up. He keeps talking. Like a manic marionette, he talks and talks and talks, unloading his most precious grievances against — everybody.

And the GOP is stuck. They can’t speak out against him. They can’t because they lack one imperative thing needed to do that, which would be a spine. So as Trump keeps chattering on, I imagine the GOP feels like they’re on a non-stop round and round spin. It’s Trump who is spinning them in circles, and it’s not going to stop anytime soon.
