This is the Jeffrey Epstein quote that’s going to come back to bite Donald Trump

Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested on charges of sex trafficking of minors, and that’s a problem for Trump for a couple reasons. He and Epstein are old friends, which on its own could be mere happenstance. But when you consider that the prosecutor who initially let Epstein off the hook is now serving in Trump’s cabinet, it’s a different story. In fact one particular quote places things in a whole different context.

Back in 2002, Donald Trump said this about Jeffrey Epstein to New York Magazine: “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy … He’s a lot of fun to be with. He likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.” This is problematic, because it helps prove that Trump and Epstein are indeed friends. It also proves – at the least – that Trump knew Epstein was into “younger” women, though he didn’t specify just how young. And it means that when Trump named Alexander Acosta to his cabinet, he almost surely knew that Acosta was the prosecutor who let Epstein off the hook. But this isn’t even the quote we’re talking about.

George Conway has tweeted a segment from a deposition that Jeffrey Epstein gave years ago. Epstein was asked this question: “Have you ever socialized with Donald Trump in the presence of females under the age of 18?” Epstein’s answer: “Though I’d like to answer that question, at least today I’m going to have to assert my Fifth, Sixth, and 14th Amendment rights, sir.”

Under the law, pleading the Fifth is not an indicator of guilt. But it sure is eyebrow raising that Jeffrey Epstein refused to answer this question. If Epstein did things with underage women but Trump wasn’t involved, Epstein could easily have just truthfully answered “no” to the question, without incriminating himself. The only way he wouldn’t have been able to answer the question was if Trump was somehow involved. Stay tuned, because this isn’t going away.
