I’ve always preferred the Winter Olympics to the Summer Olympics. Perhaps that is because of Figure skating, which is the highlight of the Olympic Games. The 2022 games are coming up quickly. And now President Biden has announced he will not be sending any diplomats to the games.

It is a boycott, at least partially. Our athletes will still compete. The reason President Biden gave is sound. The Biden administration is making a statement against China’s “ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity.”

The games to take place in Beijing will feature our athletes and have our Government’s full support. China is not taking this news well. Labeling our actions “a self-directed political farce,” China says they will take “resolute countermeasures.”

They claim we’re trying to “disrupt” the games. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian had this to say: “The U.S. will pay the price for its practices. You may stay tuned for follow-ups.”

Other countries as well have been and are considering a boycott. Some of these countries include Canada and the United Kingdom. What is quite odd is the response by many of Maga. They — gasp — mostly agree. Mark this moment because it won’t happen again:

“Screw the Olympics.”

“We should all boycott.”

“Every country should do this.”

Who knew? It would appear that even Maga is aware of China’s human rights violations. Many folks say they’re not even watching the games this year.

Senator Mitt Romney agrees with Biden’s decision and supports the athletes still participating. Romney says he recognizes these athletes have worked their entire lives to be part of this and should not be punished. It would appear everybody agrees with this decision — except China.
