Well that’s about the dumbest thing he’s said yet

Donald Trump gave a State of the Union address tonight that was equal parts divisive, toothless, absurd, and just plain weird. Most of it was too disjointed and semi-coherent to have any real impact, or even be properly understood. But at one point Trump said something about North Korea that’s going to get him laughed at for a long, long time.

Trump used his speech to brag about his warm personal affinity for murderous dictator Kim Jong Un. He went on to make a number of false claims about North Korea’s recent nuclear activities. Trump also then announced he’ll meet with Kim in Vietnam soon, for another pointless butt-kissing summit. But then Trump said something utterly surreal.

Donald Trump flatly stated that if he hadn’t become president, the United States would be in the midst of a terrible war with North Korea right now. Wait, really? He’s now convinced himself that if Hillary Clinton had become president, North Korea would have somehow magically invaded America on the spot?

Donald Trump’s foray into politics has consisted almost entirely of him dishonestly bragging about himself. He has no qualifications, no accomplishments, and no clue, so of course he has to prop himself up with nonstop lies about how great he is. But this is beyond-the-shark even by Trump’s standards. Not even Trump’s braindead idiot base believes that a peon like Kim Jong Un would have started a war with us by now if Trump weren’t the president.
