No wonder Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are panicking
On Monday, a pair of major media stories made clear that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office was going to bring the first round of Trump Organization criminal indictments within a fairly short timeframe. So it wasn’t suspiring that on Tuesday, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner leaked to the media that they had supposedly distanced themselves from Donald Trump. Given the timing, it was fairly obvious what was going on. But now the whole thing is a lot more clear – and more startling.
Friday’s New York Times bombshell revealed that the Manhattan DA is bringing the initial indictments as soon as this upcoming week – and that the Trump Organization itself will likely be among the indictments. This means the entire Trump family is in trouble. The NYT article also revealed that the DA’s office recently informed Donald Trump that these indictments were coming.
Presumably, Donald Trump told his family about this when he learned about it. And in response to this news, Ivanka and Jared leaked a story to the media claiming that they’d grown apart from him. Ouch. It was one thing for them to leak this simply because they thought indictments might be coming soon. It’s another thing now that they appear to have leaked this specifically in response to learning that the Trump Organization is being indicted.
This has to be seen as both a cutthroat move and a panic move. It’s a cutthroat move for obvious reasons. But it’s a panic move because it’s not something that has any chance of helping them. If Ivanka and Jared are on track to be indicted as part of the Trump Organization takedown, then a media leak about growing apart from Donald Trump isn’t going to somehow magically save them. This is cold hearted and clueless. This is going to get so ugly for the Trump family.
