Polls schmolls. We know how the polling turned out in 2016. Nearly every poll showed Hillary Clinton ahead, and how did that go? Though she won the popular vote, she lost the electoral college, which many would just as soon see abolished. So, why should we rely on the polls showing Biden ahead of Trump? We cannot necessarily rely on them, but they are fairly telling. CNN’s Harry Enten explains how these polls work. He cautions that this race is not over, and Trump could still pull something out of the hat he needs to wear and win. Enten breaks it down for us in his latest analysis of the polls, heavily focusing on the “red states” that Trump won in 2016.

As Palmer Report shared last week, the latest Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters in Georgia revealed Biden up 51% to Trump’s 44%. Even considering the margin of error, Georgia could well be outside of Trump’s reach. Over 1.4 million in Georgia have already voted, which is extremely atypical. Georgia’s Secretary of State reported that this is a 134% increase over voting at this same phase in the 2016 election. Voters in Georgia are obviously highly motivated. Even if that motivation is to rid the nation of Trump, it does not matter. Kamala Harris has brought strength to the Biden campaign, and many are motivated because of her.

Enten compares the polls in 2016 to the 2020 polls based on Biden’s lead over Clinton. On average, Biden leads by 10 points nationwide. When Clinton won the popular vote in 2016, the polls showed her up 3 to 4 points, which is the margin by which she won. When Enten takes away Biden’s 8-point lead over Clinton, he comes up with Biden winning the following states: Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Florida. He shows the following states just outside the margin of error (less Biden’s lead over Clinton): Arizona and Florida and those that fall within, North Carolina, Georgia, and Iowa. Enten’s comparison shows the candidates tied in Ohio and Trump leading by 2 in Texas. Someone must be explaining these numbers to Trump, as he has become increasingly unhinged. Likely the worst person he could have chosen to attack is Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Trump is making outlandish claims about Dr. Fauci while simultaneously knocking Biden for following science. Trump called Dr. Fauci and other health officials “idiots,” according to CNN, and “declared the country ready to move forward” from coronavirus. Several health officials have already referred to the coming 6 to 12 months as our “darkest days” under coronavirus, yet Trump claims that had Fauci been in charge, more than half a million people would be dead. Seriously, Trump? Likely, had Fauci been in charge, 220,000+ would not be dead.

Trump is desperate, and in his twisted mind, he will be helped by his unhinged behavior. Interestingly, people apparently buy into his nonsense and continue to vote for him. They must be as twisted, delusional, and crazy as “president” Donald Trump.
