Night and day change

Donald Trump’s debate with Joe Biden was conducted with muted microphones, which prevents the candidates from speaking when it’s not their turn. Why, then, is he fighting against muted microphones with Kamala Harris? It could well be a recurrence of Trump’s fear of a Harris debate. Otherwise, it makes no sense. He agreed to the debate, and it was no surprise that muted microphones would be used. As Associated Press reported, it is not uncommon for candidates to try to make the rules favor them, but AP said that both Trump and Harris are under pressure to deliver strong performances. There is no doubt that Harris will be strong, but what about Trump? Will he speak in complete sentences for a change? Will he bring up Hannibal Lecter and sharks? Those are but some of the problems that will be faced by Trump’s team. This issue should be no issue at all. The rules of this debate are the same as Trump’s debate with Biden. Neither should object to being able to freely make a point. It’s not a problem for Harris, but Trump is acting like a baby, talking about a panel of “Trump Haters” and ABC. The man has zero backbone.

Unlike Trump, Harris has plenty of backbone. She also has plenty of love and joy and was able to spread that to others during the DNC. An opinion from Svante Myrick for the Hill says it all: “It’s been a couple of days since I flew home after attending the Democratic National Convention. And at the risk of sounding corny, I think I could have done it without the plane. To attend that convention was to experience a sense of joy so powerful that it made you feel like you had wings.” We all have wings since Harris entered the presidential race. We have hope, we feel freedom, and yes, we have joy. She brings that with her. Myrick and others took posters to the convention and posted them all over Chicago. Later, they were destroyed by red paint, especially on Harris’s face and eyes, by Trump supporters. He said exactly what we’re all feeling: “Anyone can destroy. It takes artists to create.” Creating is what we see in Harris and Tim Walz.

They want to help create a world in which everyone has value, and everyone can contribute. We are all part of what makes our country-and the world-more beautiful. We have no desire to live in a country filled with chaos, hate, and division. If that’s how they choose to live, so be it. Freedom goes both ways, and freedom means you can do as you please, including making yourself miserable over things that have nothing to do with you. The world revolves around none of us. If you choose hate, chaos, and division, live with it, but don’t try to rain on our collective parade. We choose joy, we choose diversity and inclusion, we choose to embrace everyone, and we choose love. We choose Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
