Yesterday we brought you the story of how Republican House Minority Leader and blabbermouth knucklehead Kevin McCarthy had taken a big swing and come up empty. He wrote a public letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, in which he effectively tried to call timeout on the impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump because he had a number of loaded and dishonest questions about the process.

We told you this would go nowhere, and that’s what happened. But it turns out it’s even worse for Kevin McCarthy, because instead of simply ignoring the letter, Nancy Pelosi decided to publicly fire back at him for how out of line he was. By the time the brief letter was finished, McCarthy was surely left wishing he’d never tapped her on the shoulder to begin with.

In her response letter, Pelosi explained that the current House impeachment inquiry is operating entirely within the rules, and that McCarthy therefore had no standing to try to bring a halt to the inquiry. Then she added this devastating sentence: “I received your letter this morning shortly after the world witnessed President Trump on national television asking yet another foreign power to interfere with the upcoming 2020 elections.” Oops.

Kevin McCarthy then posted yet another public letter to Nancy Pelosi, in which he basically just repeated his loaded questions again, as if repeating himself was somehow the trick to getting Pelosi to cave to this toothless demand. If McCarthy is the best that Donald Trump can find in his impeachment defense, it’s not going to be much of a fight.
