This is ugly for Mitch McConnell

With Donald Trump currently dragging the entire Republican Party down with him, things are getting particularly ugly for Mitch McConnell – and no, we’re not talking about the tan suit he inexplicably wore this week. McConnell has a real problem when it comes to his own reelection.

Now that Amy McGrath has won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate race in Kentucky, and her primary opponent Charles Booker has thrown his weight behind her, we’ve been waiting to see the first general election polling in the race. RMG Research now says that McGrath is one point ahead of Mitch McConnell in a head to head matchup.

We’ll have to wait to see additional polls out of the Kentucky Senate race before we can pass judgment about how the race is truly shaping up. But when a well known incumbent is one point behind at this stage of a race, it’s usually really bad news for the incumbent. You can follow Amy McGrath here.
