As you are aware, LGBTQ youth are under attack. These attacks are coming from the GOP. Because they have no platform at all, their only way to win in their demented minds, is to scare the living heck out of parents and stoke rage. Many states have taken notice, some not in a good way. One of those states is the state of Alabama. Alabama has criminalized some treatments for transgender youth, which is an outrage.

Things like hormone therapy are now a crime in Alabama if administered to people struggling with gender identity issues and under the age of 19. But this Friday, Attorney General Merrick Garland filed a complaint against the law, claiming it violates the equal protection clause in the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution.

The Department of Justice seeks to prevent the beastly law from going into effect. Thank you, AG Garland. The new law is set to take effect on May 8, so the Department of Justice wasted no time moving quickly.

The DOJ had already sent a letter to the Attorney Generals of all of our states, warning them that engaging in this type of behavior — blocking transgender people from getting care — could violate the United States constitution.

If this ghastly bill is allowed to take effect, doctors who ignore the bill could face up to a decade in prison! It’s unbelievable, but this is what we’ve come to. But luckily, we have a Justice Department that gives a damn. And they will do everything they can to fight this disgusting legislation.
