Lindsey Graham, in his Trump-Russia desperation, just threw his hero John McCain under the bus

Everyone paying attention knows that there’s something terribly wrong with the heel turn that Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has taken when it comes to Donald Trump’s Russia scandal. He’s gone from criticizing Trump and demanding the Russia scandal be investigated, to cheerleading for Trump and demanding that those investigating Trump be prosecuted for doing so. Why is Graham doing this? Here’s a hint: he’s taking it so far that he’s just thrown his personal hero and best friend John McCain under the bus.

Lindsey Graham and Chuck Grassley are using their positions on the Senate Judiciary Committee to demand that the Department of Justice pursue criminal charges against Trump-Russia dossier author Christopher Steele (link). Why? No legitimate reason. They’re claiming that he perjured himself because he got a date mixed up, which is not at all how perjury works. This is a malicious, and blatantly illegal, attempt at a phony prosecution of a man they know is innocent. Graham and Grassley will go to prison if this backfires on them, and there’s a strong chance that it will. But if that’s not enough to make you conclude that they’re quite possibly being blackmailed into doing this, consider what Graham just did to McCain.

It was John McCain who first obtained the Trump-Russia dossier from European sources and gave it to the FBI. This all started with him. Last week, Republican Congressman Devin Nunes began targeting McCain by subpoenaing his underlings, in an attempt at scandalizing McCain’s acquisition of the dossier (link). It was startling enough that McCain’s best friend Lindsey Graham didn’t seem to be doing anything to get Nunes to stop this. Now Graham is going even further than Nunes in trying to criminalize the Trump-Russia dossier.

If this surreal criminal conspiracy by Lindsey Graham, Devin Nunes and Chuck Grassley does get any traction, it’ll very quickly land on John McCain’s doorstep. In fact that seems to be the plan. Graham knows this. Yet he’s willing to help falsely smear his dying hero McCain, in his desperate attempt at fending off the Trump-Russia investigation. If any of you can offer any explanation for this, other than Graham being blackmailed by Trump and Russia, I’m listening.
