Looks like this just became a criminal scandal for the Secret Service

One of my all-time favorite books is about a “secret society.” At first, this society was happy. But as time went on, the players in this game of secrecy became darker and darker as the secrets grew more ominous in nature.

This is the problem with secret societies. How inviting they look at first and how privileged many of their members must feel! Until the tide turns as it usually does with secrets. It is my opinion that is what’s happening now — undercover of darkness — the darkness of the Secret Service.

The Secret Service, to an extent, has always been a bit shrouded in mystery. Many of the things that go on there are not known to most of us, and that’s fine. What is NOT fine are missing texts. The Secret Service had no new texts to turn over to the January 6 committee. The National Archives has asked for them to probe the deletion of these texts.

“Potential unauthorized deletion.” That is what the National Archives are calling it. And surely an agency as skilled in computer forensics as these people know that one does not delete ANYTHING.

Not without backup. Not without contingency plans. What then has happened to the Secret Service? Secrets have happened to it. I believe there are damning texts. What they say, I do not know. But we are being asked to accept the impossible — that this agency simply didn’t know any better.

There are only two choices before us. Either this was mere incompetence — or there is something more nefarious going on. And that’s what’s troubling. That’s what’s sticking in my craw, refusing to leave. That’s the danger sign screaming in the minds of many.

It’s the secrets. It’s the possibility — only a possibility, mind you — that whatever was in some or all of these texts was so damning that they don’t want us to know what it is. I don’t believe in coincidences. I do believe in secrets. I do not believe in that much utter incompetence. I do not believe they “didn’t know any better.”

No, what I believe in is a circle of clandestine people possibly protecting their own. But some things are never meant to be secret. And hopefully, in the near future, the tide will turn and what was once secret will be known to us all.
