Looks like Joe Rogan got away with it. Our side had him and Spotify on the ropes, but after a week, we stopped pushing the issue and moved on to the next thing. If we’d kept pushing and costing Spotify money, it might have had to dump Rogan by now. We should have kept it going.
The silver lining is that because of the work we did put in, Rogan is now likely one false move away from ouster and will remain that way. So maybe he’ll finish himself off, and our work won’t have been for nothing. But if we’d kept up the pressure longer, he’d be gone already.
It always comes down to whether you get behind these movements because you want to create positive change, or because you just like feeling outrage. Winning these kinds of battles requires sticking with them, and not allowing the zeitgeist to simply steer you toward the next thing to be outraged about, before the work is done. Let’s keep this in mind going forward.
