When it was revealed that Supreme Court spouse Ginni Thomas conspired with Trump election attorney John Eastman, the January 6th Committee let it be known that it wanted to speak to Thomas, and she publicly responded by saying she’d be glad to do so. This was remarkable, given that Thomas is clearly in severe legal jeopardy, and that testifying to the committee would likely serve to further incriminate her.

Now it appears Ginni Thomas has figured out that she is indeed in serious legal trouble. This evening the New York Times is reporting that Thomas has several questions about why the committee would want to talk to her – essentially meaning that she’s changed her mind about testifying.

This isn’t a huge surprise. Ginni Thomas may indeed be unhinged enough to think that her incoherent conspiracy theories are enough to get her off the legal hook. But yesterday the news broke that six days ago the DOJ carried out a warrant to seize John Eastman’s cellphone from him.

Now Thomas is suddenly hesitant to testify. Perhaps she’s put together that the DOJ likely just obtained all of her communications with Eastman when it seized his phone. And while criminally indicting the spouse of a Supreme Court Justice would be historic, there’s no reason to expect that the DOJ will suddenly stop with Eastman and fail to move on to his co-conspirators like Thomas. No wonder she got scared about testifying.
