Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski is now calling for Trump to resign. Whether you like or trust Murkowski or not, this is a big deal. It allows the Democrats to argue that their effort to oust Trump is bipartisan in nature. It places even more pressure on Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Murkowski is also vaguely threatening to leave the Republican Party if it doesn’t distance itself from Trump. We’ve long wondered if she might end up becoming a registered Independent and begin caucusing with Senate Democrats once Trump is gone. This would certainly seem to raise that possibility.
