It is said that fairy dust can make something unlikely come to fruition. Fairy dust is magical, and many mystical and extraordinary things can happen when the fairies choose to sprinkle it. Perhaps we were sprinkled with delicate Fairy Dust. After all — we unseated a sitting President, won two Georgia Special elections, and ultimately were this year’s winners in the dizzying world of politics.

Perhaps though, the fairies forgot about Kevin McCarthy — or maybe they didn’t deem him worthy enough for a bit of magic. McCarthy has embarrassed himself once again. His latest tweet produced hysterical laughter in this writer as it made no sense and was clearly trying to sound confident and authoritative while simultaneously coming off as laughable and cringy.

Here is this mighty tweet:

“When they walk away, we step up.
When they stay silent, we speak up.
When they silence us, we speak louder and longer.
We are House Republicans. And we will never back down.”

I’m pausing here to give you a minute to stop laughing.

Speak up? Not back down? Does Kevin McCarthy even have a glimmer of self-awareness? It appears that he doesn’t. So maybe we should give him some. I am channeling Kevin McCarthy. I think I need to. Someone needs to translate this ludicrous tweet, and it may as well be me:

Don’t walk away — I need to be House Speaker.

Please don’t stay silent — tell me I will be your Speaker if we win in 2022.

How do I sound, Trump? Do I sound tough, and is it OK I didn’t say the word “woke”? I can go back and change it if you like.

Please don’t back down from supporting me. I talked a lot on TV some night, and I was good.

So there it is. McCarthy’s not such a hard guy to understand. He cares about nothing except the Speakership. I would not be surprised if he sleep-talked the word “House Speaker.” With us however, playing to win, this is one dream of his that I do not see ever coming true.
