Anyone paying attention to the political landscape knew going into tonight’s debate that Kamala Harris was going to outperform Donald Trump. The only question was by how much. Now we have our answer. We’re only half an hour into the debate, and this is a stunning blowout fashion.

Kamala Harris sounded presidential from the get-go, while Donald Trump seemed to be on the defensive from the start. Trump gave a number of bad answers on policy, including not being willing to say whether he’d sign a national abortion ban. When the moderator pointed out that JD Vance recently said Trump is in favor of such a ban, Trump sheepishly claimed that he hadn’t discussed abortion with his own running mate. Remarkably, that was the closest Trump came to a coherent moment.

At one point Trump claimed that abortion after birth was legal in West Virginia. After the moderator pointed out that no such thing is happening in any state, Trump then claimed it was happening in Virginia. At another point he claimed immigrants in Ohio were eating dogs and cats, prompting Kamala Harris to laugh out loud, and prompting the moderators to again point out that no such thing is happening.

At another point Harris managed to bait Trump into spewing conspiracy theories about rally crowd size, making Trump look like an idiot.

When the moderator pointed out that crime is down under the Biden administration, Trump went on to spew conspiracy theories about the FBI.

Kamala Harris is now going after Trump for being a recently convicted felon who’s awaiting sentencing, prompting Trump to angrily melt down. This debate is over already. Not only is Harris winning this debate, she’s winning it by such a glaring margin that everyone in the media will have to admit she won – and any persuadable voters in the middle who are watching this will shift in Harris’ direction.
