It is always inspiring when journalists get it right. We’ve seen many who get it wrong — including many a Fox non-news broadcaster. But there are some gems on our side. One of them is Jim Acosta.

Acosta as a television pundit, is like finding gold at the end of the rainbow. I truly mean that in a very serious way. I have always felt it was vital to call out the bad — but I also think one must highlight the excellent.

Acosta has shown a continued refusal to “both sides” it. It makes one proud. It makes one believe in the field of journalism again when one sees that. Acosta, over the weekend, called out the Fox non-news punditry — the deadly and racist punditry that, in this writer’s humble opinion, is dark, dangerous, and is contributing to the ruination of America.

Strong words but words, I nonetheless believe. Acosta showed videos of these lethal hosts, including Tucker Carlson. Noting these television clips were “a few examples” of the kind of dangerous rhetoric this country has been forced to see, Acosta also showed his audience a story from the New York Times, which wrote about his racism.

“What Tucker Carlson is doing by peddling replacement theory and other white nationalist talking points is dangerous, and we called it out today,” said Acosta on Twitter.

This calling out — this refusal to play both sides — is something we must cherish. We must cherish it because it;’s real — and it’s needed.

Acosta has authenticity. In a world of deceit, where we are constantly told up is down, down is up, where we’re regularly told to believe obvious lies, this is a breath of fresh air. And I’d like to see more of it.

This is exactly what I meant in my previous article about CNN. In that article, I said I believed CNN’s focus should be not on Republicans and Democrats — but on the truth. If everybody on CNN followed Acosta’s example, it would be quite a network. So let Acosta know of your admiration — if, in fact, you do admire him.

We so often call out the bad but often fail to acknowledge the good. Follow him on Twitter. Let CNN know what a great job he’s doing. And tell them you’d like to see other pundits just like him.
