Donald Trump has a number of problems these days. Too many to list, in fact. One of them is that he’s begun losing what’s left of his filter, and he seems unable to keep his private conversations private. Even as the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination continues to become more problematic by the hour, Trump has revealed – perhaps unintentionally – that he’s inching away from the Kavanaugh nomination.

After Senate Republicans showed their (lack of a) hand by postponing the committee vote so Dr. Christine Blasey Ford could testify, she decided to use this leverage to demand an FBI investigation into Kavanaugh before she testifies. According to a new report from CNN, here’s what Donald Trump had to say about her testimony: “If she shows up and makes a credible showing, that will be very interesting, and we’ll have to make a decision.” Wait, what?

The only possible “decision” Trump could be referring to here is whether or not to withdraw the Brett Kavanaugh nomination. In other words, Trump just admitted that he’s been a part of internal discussions about whether to scuttle the nomination. It’s entirely possible that he wasn’t supposed to blurt this out publicly, of course. But whether he intended to say this to the media or not, Trump just inched away from the Kavanaugh nomination.

Considering that Brett Kavanaugh has reportedly spent the better part of the past two days at the White House, it further suggests that Kavanaugh has been a part of that discussion on whether to pull the nomination. As Palmer Report has explained, if the FBI launches an investigation into Kavanaugh’s alleged attempted rape, it’ll likely end up nailing him on something, whether it be the lies he might tell to investigators, or the perjury he committed last week, or his finances, or you name it.
