Idiot Trump just split his own base right down the middle
Earlier this week I pointed out that for all his unhinged lunacy over the past decade, and for all his public talk of going to war, Donald Trump’s actions (or lack of actions) have suggested that he’s very much afraid of his presidency getting mired in a land war. Ever since George W. Bush used up that space on the bingo card, even Trump appears to understand that the prospect of war is now likely to make a President less popular, not more popular.
That said, Trump keeps ratcheting up the warmongering rhetoric toward Iran. I still suspect Trump is merely running his mouth to try to distract everyone from the fact that his presidency is collapsing (and if that is his goal, it’s working). Or maybe Trump really has become senile enough to think that a land war is a magic wand. Either way, Trump’s rhetoric is now causing severe problems – within his own base.
Everyone in Trump world is either mentally incompetent, or pretending to be mentally incompetent in order to pander to those who are mentally incompetent. It can be tricky to tell who’s who, but the reality is that they usually all arrive at the same place. However, when it comes to the prospect of war with Iran, Trump’s base seems split down the middle.
Ever since Trump began banging the war drum about Iran, Trump clingers like Tucker Carlson, Mark Levin, Matt Gaetz, and Laura Loomer have begun taking pro-war or anti-war stances and lashing out at each other accordingly. It seems there are those within Trump world who are actually insane enough to want a war with Iran, and then there are those in Trump world who seem to understand that such a war would likely destroy what little is left of Trump’s presidency. And these two camps are going at each other in rather ugly fashion.
I say let them fight. This kind of internal squabbling, particularly in public, only serves to make Trump’s base weaker. I say let them make themselves look like idiots. If we’re stuck with an evil senile unstable President recklessly threatening war, at least it’s serving to sabotage his entire power base. Trump is, after all, an idiot.
