ICE vanishes from Twitter as Donald Trump circles the drain [Updated]
ICE, the immigration enforcement agency that Donald Trump has been using as a de facto gestapo for the past four years, is facing serious trouble now that Trump has lost. ICE will be ripped to pieces by criminal investigators. Numerous ICE agents will surely go to prison for their abuses in Trump’s immigrant concentration camps. So it’s notable that the official ICE account on Twitter has suddenly vanished.
Some observers think Twitter has suspended the account, but we’re not buying this. Suspended accounts say “Account suspended on them. The ICE account says “This account doesn’t exist” on it. This suggests that ICE itself has deleted its Twitter account in some kind of panicked attempt at destroying evidence.
This is an odd strategy considering Twitter (and various archives) would still have these tweets and can provide them to law enforcement if necessary. In any case, the post-Trump panic appears to be fully underway among his henchmen. Update, 6:26pm: the ICE account is now back, and is claiming it only disappeared due to a “technical glitch.” Color us suspicious of that explanation.
