“I think it happens daily”
Unfortunately, we have a media that quite often fails to do its job and that’s a big reason we’ve ended up where we are with Republicans having full control of the federal government – as much as they claim to hate government.
The reckless antics of Elon Musk and Donald Trump both tend to regularly draw headlines and as a result, ratings – which leaves a number of journalists not doing their due diligence when it comes to the basic concept of being a watchdog on government power and overreach. Rather than bring back the ratings boon a lot of network executives were hoping for, however, a number of people tuned out, growing wary of the incompetent job media outlets like CNN and Washington Post did throughout their coverage of the 2024 election.
We’re now seeing a few of them realize the danger Donald Trump and his party present to the nation, even if it means losing their jobs. On Wednesday, a reporter took things a step further when Trump went off on an especially incoherent tirade, bringing up Kamala Harris’ 60 Minutes election interview yet again, and claiming that the media never gave him the same treatment she was given when they edited her interview. The reporter then interjected with: “I think it happens daily.”
We’ll see what happens – but it’s good to get this out there. There’s really no argument against the fact that Trump’s nonsense gets sanewashed on a daily basis in ways that are sometimes absurd. The guy’s approval rating is falling and this is probably not the interview he wants to get out there, as it may be what’s needed to get somewhat objective covering of his day to day awfulness.
