House Democrats stick it to House Republicans

All too often, the GOP looks to Democrats to simply do the right thing, even if that means bailing Republicans out of mess after mess – as it spares the country from the worst of what Republican rule could potentially do.
The latest mess that Republicans got themselves into involves finding a way to keep Donald Trumpโs 2017 tax cuts in place – even if it means gutting Social Security and Medicare which were always Republican policies anyway. The other option means defaulting on the debt – something that Democrats have consistently voted to raise whenever a Republican is in the White House.
Things may be different this time, however, as Democratic House Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries has vowed that Democrats will not vote for anything that will pave the way for Trumpโs tax cuts, and heโs gotten a further green light with Rep. Brendan Boyle who sits on the Budget Committee, who made clear that this is no longer the responsibility of House Democrats.
House Republicans have to figure this out themselves and if they canโt govern, the American people have the right to know that. A potential government shutdown will be on Republicans – and will quickly drive down Donald Trumpโs ability to get anything accomplished in his second term – things that heโs made clear are harmful for most of America.
