Hey Trump, what was all that back there?
Like some of you, I received a news alert yesterday that an Israeli news source was reporting that the United States had begun bombing Iran. I always take such reports with a grain of salt, and when no US news outlets reported anything similar in the several minutes following the initial claim, it started to become clear that it was in fact a false claim. But that was just the beginning of the strangeness.
Then came Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s sudden claim that Iran twice tried to kill Trump – yet another strangely timed claim. It all adds up to something suspicious. Maybe Netanyahu leaked the false attack story himself, in an effort to try to draw the United States into its ongoing skirmish with Iran. It would fit with Netanyahu then publicly claiming that Iran was targeting Trump.
The question is, as always, just how dumb and weak and compromised is Donald Trump? There were major media reports last week that Trump begged Netanyahu not to strike Iran, and that Netanyahu defied him. Now that Netanyahu has walked all over Trump, he appears to be looking to manipulate Trump on top of it. No surprise.
Netanyahu, a corrupt right wing villain who’s bad for Israel, is at least a competent politician. Trump, a corrupt right wing villain who’s bad for America, can’t even claim competence. Whatever is going on here, Netanyahu is walking all over Trump.
