Here comes the Defense Production Act
President Joe Biden is holding a press conference right now with Dr. Fauci, a welcome sight for a number of reasons. Biden is spelling out that the pandemic really is as bad as we all know it is, and that up to now the vaccine rollout has been a disaster. It’s refreshing to have a President who’s willing to speak the truth and simply call it like it is.
Biden is laying out how he’s invoking the Defense Production Act to ramp up the manufacture and thus accelerate the implementation of the COVID vaccine. This is a crucial move that will save a ton of American lives. Biden is also signing executive actions to keep workers safe and provide equity in COVID related health care.
The last guy should have invoked the Defense Production Act to ramp up production of masks and PPE a year ago, and a ton of people died because he didn’t. But now President Biden is doing precisely what should be done.
