Here comes the blowback

Donald Trump has been spending much of his time in office firing people. There is no viable reason for any of this. According to the Guardian, Trump personally fired prosecutors from the DOJ because they worked on cases that involved prosecuting him, which, of course, means they worked with “deranged Jack Smith,” as Trump often calls him. He is slowly but surely bringing the DOJ under his control. Once again, Trump is reenforcing everything he said during his campaign, and people voted for this lunatic. Trump thought he was so smart to have the issue ultimately handled by the acting attorney general, but anyone with a clue already knew that these were Trump’s orders. One thing he didn’t consider is that these career lawmen and women would fight back, and they’re showing him just that.

Several FBI agents recently filed a class action suit against the DOJ. Their cause of action is “retribution” for the January 6 and Mar-a-Lago investigations to stop the “unlawful, retaliatory purges.” According to the Independent, the identities of the plaintiffs are being kept under wraps (at least for now). They attached a copy of a survey DOJ leaders are using to identify agents who worked on either of the cases against Trump and any agents who worked on the January 6 insurrection. Yet another group of agents filed a separate lawsuit, seeking the court’s protection from “anticipated retaliatory decision to expose their personal information” and “potential vigilante action by those who they were investigating.” Both groups have done the right thing. One of the first things Trump did was pardon the rioters from January 6. You had better believe most of them would love to get their hands on these agents. Both groups were merely doing the jobs they had been tasked to do, but Trump doesn’t care about any of that. All he sees is “poor persecuted Trump.”

The lists they included with their filings say it all. Who compiles lists if they aren’t planning to use them for something? We knew Donald Trump would be a horrible president because we’ve been there, done that, but he is even more off the rails this time around. It was also mentioned in the lawsuit that Elon Musk and a group of tech industry workers are trying to access government databases, some of which contain their personal information, “without regard to security protocols, and without a legitimate business purpose.” This nonsense continues to move forward, as the Guardian reported on the firing of Gwynne Wilcox, who was a member of the National Labor Relations Board. She has sued as well. Wilcox was apparently fired for being Black because she has never been disciplined for wrongdoing. Former board members have already spoken out in her defense.

Donald Trump is obviously out of control, and no one is trying to stop him. Indeed, he has helpers. The American people need to change the balance of power at the Midterms. Otherwise, we are doomed.
