GOP just got bad midterm news

If what happened in New York is any indication, Republicans are in for a rough time in the midterms. New York representative Mike Lawler is the latest republican congressman to be booed and heckled by outraged voters, his OWN voters, during an appearance before his constituents.
Lawler lives in a swing district in New York State. It was hysterical to watch him, like a tentative verbal gymnast on tippy toes, trying desperately to avoid the questions of his own constituents. People showed up wanting to know about Medicaid cuts.
Lawler didn’t have much of an answer. Here’s a little bit about what he said. He’s not worth quoting, but I want to explain his response because it was hilarious. Republicans have to do better than this if they have any chance in the midterms.
Lawler tentatively said, he understood people are upset about all the Medicaid cuts. He continued as boos rained down. But listen, he continued, and then proceeded to say the government is in debt, and we need money badly. I’m not kidding. Read the article for yourself. That was his answer. My people — I KNOW — I know you’re concerned, but but but…
Then he mentioned those WORDS — the words that were guaranteed to offer up MORE jeers: WASTE, FRAUD AND ABUSE. We need to cut waste, fraud and abuse, he said, proving that perhaps I was wrong. Perhaps he DOESN’T know his district all that well.
It was like watching a live fireworks show but the fireworks were Lawler’s own voters, who signaled, with their jeers, boos, catcalls and heckles, what they thought of Mr. Mike Lawler. He, Lawler was a dud. It was unbelievable. I would’ve expected a little more from Lawler, really! How could he not have ANY powers of observation? Is he THAT out of touch?
The answer to that question is yes. Lawler was not prepared. I mean — HOW could he not know that this would be pretty much the only question that would be asked? Right now, hapless Republicans like this man are being booed, catcalled, jeered, giggled at, and chased out of their own Townhall meetings. Gee, GOP, sounds like a victory to me!
