Pennsylvania is one of the most critical states for maintaining not just Senate control – but also keeping the White House in 2024 – as the governor and state house races are on the ballot this year and a number of competitive races for the House.

The media has largely spun the Fetterman-Oz debate as a disaster for Democrats, even though it’s really Oz who said the worst possible thing he could have said during it, and there’s not really much physical evidence to suggest that the debate really changed that many minds. In fact, there’s a pretty good sign for Democrats in the state as we’re watching the early vote come in.

So far, the returns for early voting are skewing in Democrats’ favor as they did at this point back in 2020, when Joe Biden won Pennsylvania by 1.2%. The difference is that just four days ago, the margin for Democratic returns was two points wider than it was in 2020 and right now, it’s nearly four points wider. If you think that’s great, there’s even better news: Voters under age 30 are returning ballots at a rate that leans 69.2% Democratic. Back in 2020, the number was 51.9% Democratic.

While we’re going to be getting an onslaught of polls after polls, some good some bad, between now and Election Day, the fundamentals are showing in our favor – and clearly a good reason for why we need to still volunteer and donate – making sure to keep turning out our voters in droves right up until Nov. 8. If we put in the work, we can and will win.
