Even for Jim Jordan this is completely insane

I have a theory. My theory is when Pandora’s curiosity overcame her, and she opened the mysterious box, letting out all the world’s woes, “dishonesty” immediately attached itself to the Republican party.

I do not blame Pandora. I, too, would have opened the box. How could one not? Curiosity is a potent thing, even when we sometimes know we should try to fight it.

But the box was opened, and now we have, among other woes, the woe of dishonesty. Dishonesty has found a friend in Congressman Jim Jordan. Did anybody happen to see Jordan’s little performance the other day? Because it was a doozy.

And I’ll mention something else. Were I a lawyer, I’d have a field day with Jordan. Because Jordan, despite his clown show personality and dish-shattering voice, is a terrible liar. He may be entangled with dishonesty, but he does not do deception well — at ALL.

So once again, Jordan couldn’t answer a simple question about whether or not he spoke with Trump on January 6th. He squirmed so much I am surprised he didn’t bolt the room like a frightened rabbit. I’ve never seen anything like it.

It is amusing to see Jordan’s voice reduced from angry and arrogant to almost meek. And there were also lots of “I don’t recalls.”

Just so we are clear on this — “I don’t recall” is code for “I don’t feel like telling the truth.” Jim recalls. How could he not?

Then there was Matt Gaetz. I hadn’t laid eyes on Gaetz for a while, and seeing him, my first feeling was horror that his hair had somehow become even more of a nest. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see birds fly out of it.

On the plus side, Liz Cheney gave a heck of a speech, urging the GOP in kind terms to stop being such wimps and to stop their fear of little Kevin McCarthy and actually vote to hold a criminal in contempt. So, clearly, it was not a good day for Republicans. If they continue to have days like this, it will make beating them in 2022 a lot easier.
