Even for Donald Trump this is insane
It’s long been plainly obvious that Donald Trump has multiple clinical psychological malfunctions. There has been running debate as to whether he’s a sociopath or a malignant narcissist or both. Now he’s showing symptoms consistent with advanced dementia on top of it. So what happens when maliciously crazy meets senility?
Trump did a number of unbelievably stupid things during his first time in office. But for all the sociopathic yes men around him, there were also some people near him who seemed to be able to keep him in check. This time around there are no such people.
Case in point. Trump’s first term economic adviser Gary Cohn has revealed in Bob Woodward’s new book that Trump wanted to go off the deep end with tariffs during his first term as well. Apparently, the only reason it didn’t happen was that Trump’s handlers could reel him in on these things. But this time around Trump has surrounded himself solely with yes men so that he can do the crazy things he wanted to do last time.
It’s not just that Trump still believes tariffs are a magic wand even after what’s unfolded on the economic stage over the past few months. It’s that Trump doesn’t even know why he has these views. Cohn says that after he tried every way possible to explain economics to Trump, Trump didn’t want to hear any of it. Cohn asked Trump why he’s obsessed with tariffs, and Trump’s response was “I just do.” He then insisted he’s always believed in tariffs.
In other words Trump’s mind, even during his first term, was atrophying to the point that he was stubbornly clinging to nonsensical beliefs while falsely recalling that they had always been his beliefs. This is a common problem among dementia patients – and this was more than five years ago. We’ve all seen Trump go further downhill since then. No wonder he’s so obsessed with tariffs. It’s based on some kind of false memory due to a dying brain. No wonder this guy is so far off the deep end. He’s evil and he only has three brain cells left.
