Elon Musk’s political naivete just caught up with him

Elon Musk is an evil mentally unstable conspiracy theorist psychopath. We all know that. But he’s also something else: politically naive. He’s suddenly trying to run the federal government, but he lacks the political experience to know how to pull it off. Today his political naïveté started catching up with him in a big way.
Musk thought he could hire some young no-names to slip into various federal agencies and quietly run roughshod over them. It apparently never occurred to Musk that the political media would immediately dig in and determine the identities of these no-name henchman, and start investigating their backgrounds. The political media is useless in a lot of ways, and predatory in a lot of ways. But the one constant is that the political media loves to ruin the lives of anyone involved in politics. And sometimes that happens to work out for us.
After the media exposed the identities of Musk’s henchmen, he went berserk about it on social media. It was clear that he had not foreseen this inevitability and hadn’t planned for it. Things got worse for him today when the media dug in and tied one of his henchman to a number of past social media posts that were so controversial and offensive, the guy resigned the minute the media asked him for comment on it.
And so just two weeks in, Elon Musk is already down one henchman. This matters, because as far as anyone can tell, he’s working with a very small team. Sure, he can hire someone else to take his place. But now this guy is out there as a potential loose cannon. What if the media somehow goads him into telling his story? What if some prosecutor somewhere goes after him and tries to flip him against Musk? Sure, the DOJ is being gutted, but what if Elon Musk‘s government hacking of residents of all fifty states has violated state law somewhere? Trump can’t stop state prosecutors from doing their jobs.
This is the kind of situation you find yourself in when you hire a bunch of kids to try to hack the federal government in plain sight. Did he really expect the media not to pounce? Did he really expect a different outcome? If Musk had any idea how politics works, this isn’t how he would’ve gone about things. But he’s just that politically naïve. And given how lost in a haze of conspiracy theories he is, it’s unlikely he’s going to learn on the job.
