Elon Musk sends his regrets

Is there anything so sad as unrequited love? There are small signs that Elon Musk, after coming down from his rant against Trump, is beginning to have regrets. Is it because he misses the good times with his buddy Trump? The fond memories, the laughs?
No. It’s because Musk is slowly coming down from the (no doubt) drug-fueled high of his triumphant attack on Trump, and starting to take inventory of what he’s lost: access to power, government contracts, “official” endorsement of his failing Tesla brand, a partially federally-funded expedition to Mars and, above all, his last shot at becoming history’s very first trillionaire at the expense of the American taxpayer.
There’s an old saying about interpersonal relationships. He who loves least has the power. And when it comes to personal relationships Trump always has all the power because he loves no one. Trump may find someone useful or flattering and will keep them around for that reason. But the minute they say something Trump doesn’t like, especially if it’s derogatory to Trump, they’re gone. And Elon is gone.
Of course, Trump does forget things. For example, he’s forgotten (or has never been told) about what JD Vance used to say about Trump, that he was just like Hitler. Or what people like Lindsey Graham or Ted Cruz used to say. But a public fight like this one, where Musk effectively accused Trump of being a child-rapist and tacitly implied a threat of exposure, is almost certainly a bridge too far.
And it couldn’t happen to two nicer guys. Musk, who is a vicious, heartless monster, who destroys people’s lives without so much as a backward glance, is personally responsible for the deaths of at least 300,000 human beings. That is the estimated number of people who have died already since Musk gutted USAID.
And I hope by now, brothers and sisters, I don’t need to remind you what an unbelievable monster Trump is. Besides, any list shorter than a large book of Trump’s crimes, outrages and stupidities is going to be necessarily summary. I wish Musk had hurt Trump as badly as Trump has destroyed Musk, but I doubt it.
Trump has immediately done damage control on Musk’s implied claim that Trump is prominently featured in the Epstein file. Trump quotes Epstein’s former criminal defense attorney David Schoen, who vehemently denied Musk’s accusation.
“I can say authoritatively, unequivocally and definitively that [Epstein] had no information to hurt President Trump,” Schoen’s statement said. How does he know this? “I specifically asked [Epstein]!”
So there you are, folks. Clearly Schoen hasn’t seen the file. He didn’t have to. He had the unimpeachable word of a loathsome, sociopathic child rapist. So it’s practically coals to Newcastle for Trump to actually, I dunno, RELEASE the Epstein file, right? Don’t hold your collective breath.
Of COURSE Elon is right. Of COURSE Trump is in the file. Were it otherwise Trump would have released it. Immediately. His claim there are untruths in it that might hurt certain innocent people is laughable, especially coming from a monster like Trump.
Above all Musk had become a distraction away from Trump, another fatal mistake on Elon’s part. He should have learned the lesson of Steve Bannon. No sooner had Time Magazine declared that Bannon was the power behind the first term Trump “presidency” that he, Bannon, was gone.
I think it’s over for the pipsqueak billionaire. His fortune will never top even half a trillion dollars. And thanks to his stupid mouth, rendered even more stupid by drugs, he’ll never reach the pinnacle of success he thought was his for the taking.
Trump is somewhat less diminished. Even though Musk was much-hated, he was largely hated by people who hate Trump anyway. The ones that hate Musk but love Trump will continue to love Trump. The Musk fanboys and fangirls who tolerated Trump are gone. Both men have been hurt by this clash of giant egos, and that is a very good thing.
