Elon Musk is spiraling out of control

It’s obvious that Elon Musk doesn’t like Social Security. Forbes has reported that he called it “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time.” Social Security is nothing like a Ponzi scheme. First, we were not invited to participate. Ponzi schemes induce people to participate for the promise of big profits later. We were forced by law to allow the government to take money from our paychecks every payday. We are not looking for “big profits” but merely wish to recover what has been put in as promised. Roosevelt thought social security was a good way to force us to save for our retirements because during his presidency, most seniors lived in poverty. Currently, they owe me six figures, and no, I would not have saved that on my own, so social security turned out to be a good thing. At least until Elon Musk and Donald Trump came along.

They continuously try to find ways to decrease funds in an account in which they have no business meddling. How would Musk and/or Trump feel about me meddling in their bank accounts? People like me who have been working since we were 16 years old have a nice little nest egg awaiting us, but don’t get it twisted: It is OUR money. It’s not an entitlement, and it’s not a Ponzi scheme. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I resent a billionaire even looking at that money, let alone trying to prevent me from getting every dime I put in. It is utter madness to put something so important into the hands of Elon Musk. I don’t care how much money he has; Musk has no experience with governmental agencies and how they work. Allowing him to go into these systems and make decisions based on his own feelings is improper. He doesn’t know enough about social security to call it any kind of scheme.

Now, Mike Johnson, Milquetoast that he is, has joined the Musk chorus. He told Kristen Welker on Sunday that “while cuts to ‘entitlements’ are not explicitly mentioned in the recent House budget bill, Elon musk has uncovered ‘enormous amounts of fraud, waste, and abuse in Social Security.” Show us the proof, Mike. Musk probably doesn’t even know what he’s looking at. He’s just some immigrant who got lucky and made a lot of money who, for some reason, seems hellbent on hurting average Americans. And for the last time: Social Security is NOT an entitlement; it is our hard-earned money that they have been taking out of our paychecks for years, and we want it back. While they’re playing around with money in Washington, they had better make damned sure that our money is returned to us.

Republicans are, of course, denying what they are doing, with Johnson telling Welker that cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security are “off the table.” His response was that “There’s not one mention of Medicaid, Medicare, or Social Security, it’s not in the bill.” They must find $880 million in cuts somewhere, and you better believe they find any money due to us being free for the taking.
