DOGE has been a substantial failure that caused a great deal of damage and suffering as people learned the hard way of the good things the federal government offers just as Elon Musk and his foot soldiers empty out offices without a second thought.
While the Trump administration liked to boast about the organization being about efficiency, it actually drove up federal spending significantly higher than normal. A brief thought experiment: If this agency that’s not really an agency was a hit – would the GOP be bragging about it?
They’re actually doing the opposite. The House Oversight Committee, currently headed by the GOP that has the House by a slim majority, refuses to hold any hearings. Now, House Democrat Rep. Stephen Lynch is taking them to task for doing just that – not wanting to stand up to scrutiny and defend the work DOGE is supposedly doing – because there’s a Government Accountability Office that already handles everything DOGE was supposedly established for.
It’s a way for Elon Musk to avoid accountability for his disastrous products and for the current administration to bury things they don’t like – and Lynch finally held them to task for it. Like their refusal to hold town halls, Republicans are still doing everything they can to confront their constituents. Let’s make them pay accordingly in 2025 and 2026.
