Down goes Elon Musk
When public figures – especially buffoonish ones – try their hand at running for high office, they usually find out rather quickly that governing is a lot of hard work and not very fun. And for all their insistence that politics needs outsiders with fresh ideas, they tend to find that they’re far worse at governing than the average career politician.
Then there’s Elon Musk, a buffoon who didn’t run for office but rather bought his way into a government position. Most wealthy scumbags prefer to simply buy politicians, but Musk bought himself an entire government agency and free rein to run it. But Musk has found out the hard way that, even with a senile President who’s handing out entire government agencies for a price, Musk is still very bad at this. Very bad. And it looks like he finally figured that out yesterday.
Musk announced yesterday that he’s officially stepping down as the head of DOGE, the agency that he had Trump create for him. It would be one thing if Musk had accomplished a lot and gotten the ball rolling and was merely handing things off. But this is something else. The majority of things that Musk tried to do with DOGE ended up being overturned in court. As much as DOGE has been harmful to the country, DOGE has been equally harmful to Musk. He failed miserably, in a way that everyone can see he failed miserably, and cemented his legacy as a feeble confused clown.
Of course the Trump regime claimed in a court filing months ago that someone other than Musk had been the head of DOGE all along, even as Musk was publicly claiming that he was the head of DOGE, so this whole thing has been one big disorganized mess.
It’s the latest reminder that the American right wing political apparatus these days is defined by massive, massive incompetence. Not only are these people failing to run the government competently, they can’t even seem to carry out their corrupt schemes competently. But when you consider that the American right wing is now led by a senile illiterate bankrupt reality show stooge, it all makes sense.
