We beat Donald Trump in 2020, even after he abused the power of the presidency to try to keep us from being able to beat him. And after he used his limited remaining influence to handpick some Republican midterm candidates in 2022, we beat them as well.
We’ve now beaten Mitch McConnell two elections in a row. All his mega donors and Super PAC money didn’t matter. All his past strategic victories didn’t matter. We beat him in 2020, we beat him again in 2022.
I don’t want to hear another word about how these right wing villains somehow have magic wands and can do whatever kind of evil they want and still magically win elections no matter what. We’ve proven that when we put in the work, we can beat them.
We even know how to beat them now. We make a point of focusing our targeted small dollar donations, our volunteer work, and our get out the vote efforts, on the races that are the mathematically most competitive to begin with. We refrain from idly sitting around fretting about how “we’re going to lose no matter what,” we decide we’re going to win instead, and then we put in the kind of smart work required to win. Don’t tell me we can’t beat these guys. We just did, for the second time in a row.
