Donald Trump’s vice squad strikes again

The Trump administration is certainly living up to the incompetence portion of the acronym VICE. The incompetence is running wild with this administration. First, a 15-year veteran of the DOJ has been suspended because he couldn’t justify Trump’s illegal and wrongful deposition of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a protected individual in Maryland. Making matters worse, he was shipped off to prison, to which Erez Reuveni, acting deputy director of immigration admitted in court that the man should not have been removed. As a result of his admission, AG Pam Bondi suspended him. Bondi’s response to media questions was: “At my direction, every Department of Justice attorney is required to zealously advocate on behalf of the United States. Any attorney who fails to abide by this direction will face consequences.” In another environment, this might have been the appropriate action to take; however, the Trump administration made yet another error that impacted someone’s life. What was the attorney supposed to do when asked by the Court? Lie?

Another embarrassing incident involves Ukraine. The Trump administration sent out emails to people here from Ukraine that they are going to be deported. Turns out it was all a mistake. A big fat “oopsie” if you will. This type of mistake is pathetic. Do they not know who is under any kind of protection? The Ukrainians are under a program called UH4U, and while that agreement was not set for termination, some idiots in the State Department sent the emails in error. Then, they had to turn around and send emails indicating that the earlier email was sent in error. Oh, and it gets worse.

Remember the tariffs-the same ones that made the stock market crash? According to Market Watch, those numbers were yet another preventable error from the Trump Administration. In addition to the trade deficit and exports to the U.S., the Trump administration also figured in “the elasticity of import demand with respect to import prices, and the elasticity of import prices with respect to tariffs.” I’m no expert on tariffs, but when the American Enterprise Institute says you messed up, you probably did. The error comes from using the wrong aggregator, the elasticity of retail prices rather than of import prices. You cannot, however, tell Trump that anything he has done is wrong.

In fact, Washington City Paper reported that Trump is planning a miliary parade in his own honor, even as his “leadership” is causing undue hardships on the allegedly “richest country in the world.” At the rate Trump is going, we’ll be a third world country. He has chosen June 14, which is the 250th anniversary of the Army for his parade. It also just happens to be Trump’s 79th birthday, but I’m sure that was an afterthought (not). Even as the country crashes and burns, Trump’s White House is issuing announcements about his golf game and planning military parades that will cost millions of dollars we supposedly don’t have. It all depends on what it’s spent on, right? Trump is like the myth of Nero fiddling while Rome burned.
