Donald Trump’s new White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt just stepped in it
Donald Trump has had some disastrous White House press secretaries over the years. He had Sean Spicer, who mostly spent his time lying about crowd sizes. He had Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who lied like other people breathe. He had Kayleigh McEnany, who we still suspect was merely a fictional cartoon character. Then there was the one Trump White House press secretary who was on the job for ten months and never held a single briefing.
So the bar is pretty low for new Trump White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. But suffice it to say that she’s already finding a way to move the bar even lower. Trump is still insisting he’ll invoke steep tariffs against America’s best trade partners tomorrow, because Trump is the only person in the world who still hasn’t figured out that tariffs backfire when used this way.
Karoline Leavitt was asked today whether she can guarantee that Trump’s tariffs won’t increase gas or grocery prices. Her response: she avoided the question. That’s right, she had no idea how to spin this, even though she had to know she’d get the question. Remember, in the Trump regime, incompetence is just as much of a hallmark as corruption and evil extremism.
