Donald Trump’s interview with Maria Bartiromo is a disaster

How much of a Trump sycophant is Fox News host Maria Bartiromo? Trump just put her on the Kennedy Center board. Now Trump has sat down for an interview with Bartiromo, presumably hoping to get some positive coverage out of it. But it turns out Trump is failing so badly, and so deep into cognitive decline, even his softball interview with Bartiromo was a disaster.

At one point Bartiromo said that “Businesses need clarity” on things like tariffs. She asked, “Will they get that?” Trump’s response: “Maybe, or tariffs could go up. They may go up.” This forced Bartiromo to retort with “That’s not clarity.”

At another point Bartiromo pointed out that the stock market is down on Trump’s watch, Trump’s response: “You can’t really watch the stock market.” When Bartiromo asked whether Trump is expecting a recession, he failed to deny it.

Bartiromo surely would have allowed Trump to get away with any semblance of a real answer, given what a Trump fan she is. But Trump’s answers were so weak and nonsensical, even Bartiromo couldn’t make this disaster look good. Trump is now at a point of cognitive decline where he can’t even do friendly interviews without coming off like a dementia patient.
